I just got a copy of The Colossus of Maroussi & am so Happy to be starting a new HM book. It is refreshing to hear his voice in my head as he does write as he sees & feels life.............

Mon, April 17, 2006 - 2:15 PMThis novel is largely overlooked but is without doubt up there with his best. It is a few years since I read it but I can still remember the intricate descriptions of trees, statues etc.An excellent book.

Re: Colossus
Mon, April 17, 2006 - 7:42 PMI remember really loving this book, one of the first I read of his. The "Colossus" reminds me
of some of the larger, or at least stranger, than life characters in Plexus. I think HM really
accepted that each of us is a universe unto himself (or herself) and this little book exemplifies
that observation. When HM starts fearlessly waxing large on Spengler or Nietzsche, I think
he had taken this character's vitality and voracious appetite for life to heart.
An inspiration to not settle for doing little things with our lives.
I've been meaning to reread it.
